CHERNO

What's new in CHERNO

Every new feature and fix, newest version first. CHERNO updates itself when it starts.

Version 0.9.101

  • Fixed: Steam logged itself out and asked you to sign in again when CHERNO ran on two PCs with the same Steam account. CHERNO now connects to Steam only briefly while it actually installs or removes mods, never just to show something.
  • Fixed: Animated Discord profile pictures now play as a GIF instead of a still image, and your name and picture stay up to date.

Version 0.9.100

  • New: Server owners can upload their own banner in the server panel. Every player sees it where the map is usually shown. Recommended size is 1280 × 720 pixels (16:9), at least 960 × 540; CHERNO crops other shapes around the centre and scales large pictures down.
  • Fixed: Server owners can now actually add a website; the field was missing from the form. https:// is added if you leave it out. The announcement hint now names the right place.
  • Improved: The installer from the website shows its steps (unpack, install, shortcut, launch), checks disk space first, explains errors clearly and carries publisher and version details. Fewer antivirus engines raise false alarms.

Version 0.9.99

  • New: "Notify me by Discord DM" in the server panel. The CHERNO bot messages you as soon as the server has restarted or has room again with no queue — on your phone too, even with your PC off. Sign in with Discord and join the CHERNO Discord for it.

Version 0.9.98

  • New: "Server list opacity" slider under Settings › Appearance. It sets how much of the background picture shows through behind the server list.

Version 0.9.97

  • Wipe detection now reads server names far more precisely: dates glued to the word ("Wipe21/08"), month names ("WIPE Sep 5"), years, "[WIPED]" and "Wiped Today". 488 servers are recognised instead of 313, and the "Freshly wiped" filter finds 39 % more.
  • New: CHERNO checks the names of all servers six times a day. A forgotten "[WIPED]" tag no longer counts as fresh after a week, and a new one gets its approximate wipe date.

Version 0.9.96

  • New: in-game performance display with FPS, ping, CPU, GPU and RAM. Separate or as one bar, freely movable, adjustable size and graph length, with a hotkey. Under Options › Game overlay, with a live preview. FPS need a one-time permission from Windows.
  • The background animation now only runs while you move the mouse in the launcher. At idle CHERNO uses about 11 % CPU instead of 27 %.
  • Faster, calmer start: the start screen disappears as soon as the server list is ready, and looking for streaming programs no longer weighs on your PC.
  • Fixed: Enter on a button joined the selected server, Enter in the download dialog cancelled the download, and Join could be pressed a second time while the game was starting. Plus corrected texts.

Version 0.9.95

  • Steam now cleans up deleted mods itself. This prevents the long checks of every mod that used to show up later.
  • While DayZ is running, CHERNO leaves your mods alone and no longer connects to Steam next to the game.
  • The download dialog shows why Steam stopped a download, such as low disk space, and the server panel warns beforehand when there is not enough room.
  • Cancel, delete and check are faster and more reliable. Half-finished downloads disappear once Steam is done.
  • New: the setting “Unsubscribe unneeded subscriptions automatically” under Mods. Steam then no longer pulls old subscriptions the server does not need into a download. Off by default.
  • CHERNO now checks in the background at startup whether DayZ and Steam are running. Join, delete and the mod list no longer wait for it in the first seconds.

Version 0.9.94

  • “Repair” is now “Check” and only checks that one mod for an update. Steam downloads only if there is one and no longer starts a long check of all mods.
  • The mod manager shows the real mod folders of every Steam library with their count, one click to open.
  • The diagnostic code now includes which mod folders CHERNO reads, so mod manager problems can be found faster.

Version 0.9.93

  • New: the mod manager shows which mods another Steam account on your PC is subscribed to. Those are exactly the ones Steam kept bringing back after you deleted them.
  • Delete and unsubscribe now leave such mods alone and tell you which account has to unsubscribe them. Before, deleting them even started a new download.

Version 0.9.92

  • Fixed: on some servers CHERNO read only part of the mod list, for example 14 instead of 16 mods, and DayZ kicked you right after joining. The list is now read in full.
  • What the server reports itself now takes priority over the public directory. CHERNO no longer asks for mods a server removed long ago.
  • When a server does not answer with its mod list, CHERNO now says so clearly instead of passing off an outdated list as complete.

Version 0.9.91

  • New look in the style of a native Windows app: sidebar with labels, calmer colours, fewer frames, details as an inspector panel, settings laid out like Windows. Everything stays where it was.
  • The CHERNO mark in the background picture now follows the accent colour, and the picture is centred on the page.
  • Crosshair: the preview shows four real scenes — forest, night, sky, snow — instead of flat colours.

Version 0.9.90

  • Discord bot: a scheduled restart is now a single message that keeps telling the story — “restart in 10 minutes” becomes “restarting now” and then “back online, 12/60 players”. No more three messages per restart.
  • Discord bot: warning, restart and outage messages delete themselves after a configurable time (default 30 minutes, or “never”). After three days with four restarts a day the channel is no longer full of old alerts. During a scheduled restart there is also no false outage alert anymore.
  • Bot tab: your own look per server — embed colour, server logo as thumbnail, banner below the status message, and your own wording with placeholders for the warning, “restarting now” and the outage message. All with live preview.

Version 0.9.89

  • Discord bot: roles by button. In the bot tab you set up a message with up to ten buttons — one press gives the member the role (map, region, pings), a second removes it.
  • Discord bot: post announcements straight from the bot tab — heading, text, channel, optional role ping and a server card with join button, with preview and confirmation before posting.
  • Discord bot: report mod changes. When a mod is added to or removed from the server's list, the bot posts what changed — players then know to open the launcher before joining.
  • Bot tab: every bot message now has a live preview with the server's real data — restart, outage, restart warning, mod change, role message and announcement.

Version 0.9.88

  • Discord bot: every status panel now records the player count — in the bot tab as a 24-hour curve with peaks for 24 hours and 7 days, in the Discord status message as “Peak (24 h)”.
  • Discord bot: scheduled restarts. Enter your server's restart times and time zone — the status message shows the next restart, and 5 to 30 minutes before it the bot warns in the alerts channel so nobody runs into the restart with a full backpack.
  • Discord bot: the wipe feed and CHERNO updates can be paused. Channel, role and filters stay; nothing is posted until you resume — for maintenance or a wipe weekend.

Version 0.9.87

  • Security: CHERNO now opens only https links and fixed Steam targets, refuses permission requests from web content, and the packaged app has no developer menu. The Steam Web API key is stored encrypted in the Windows credential store instead of plain text — an existing key is migrated on first start. The website now sends security headers (HSTS, CSP). Foundation moved to Electron 44.
  • Discord bot tab: a health strip tells you at a glance whether the bot is running and what needs attention — panel offline, message no longer updatable, feed errors — with a jump to the right place. Activity keeps 100 entries and can be filtered by kind and “problems only”. Reloading keeps what is on screen; forms are no longer overwritten.
  • Fix: saved passwords and playtime are now tied to the right server — for about half of all servers the lookup used the wrong key. Double-click or Enter no longer launches DayZ twice. After a game patch the launch waits up to 90 seconds for BattlEye instead of starting a second game. No Steam worker is left behind on exit that made Steam believe DayZ was still running.
  • Faster and quieter: mod folders are read once per poll instead of three times, the Steam worker no longer starts every 15 seconds and exits after 10 minutes idle, searching the list of 17,000 servers no longer stutters, and settings are written in batches instead of on every tick.
  • Usability: server rows and dialogs are keyboard-accessible (visible focus, Escape closes, Tab stays inside), silent failures now show a message, only one notice bar appears at a time, Windows’ “reduce motion” is respected, and the update restart says why it is waiting. If the server directory is down, the last list stays usable with “list from …”.

Version 0.9.86

  • Two more real map pictures: Avalon and Azalea now show their actual terrain in the server panel, rendered from the mods' own terrain textures — with the authors' permission and credit.

Version 0.9.85

  • Two more real map pictures: Green County and Melkart now show their actual terrain in the server panel — Green County rendered from the mod's own terrain textures, Melkart from the author's official site, both with permission and credit.

Version 0.9.84

  • Three more real map pictures: Pacific Northwest, Alteria and Lux now show their actual terrain in the server panel instead of the drawn emblem — with the authors' permission and their credit in the corner.

Version 0.9.83

  • The mod page, rebuilt small. Eight tools, four subscription buttons and a field for mods by ID are gone — not hidden, gone. What stays: the list with one honest status per row (installed, update, downloading, waiting, incomplete, only in Steam's books) and two actions, Repair and Remove. Design unchanged.
  • The download panel now shows Steam's own queue, with Steam's byte counts — not the folders on disk, which only knew what Steam had already touched. That is why the launcher said 4.5 GB while Steam said 30.5. Every entry says whether you requested it or not; the ones you did not can be unsubscribed, but only after you confirm.
  • Found why Steam kept fetching mods you never asked for: on one PC, Steam keeps the workshop subscriptions of every account that has ever signed in there up to date — even while a different account is logged in. The download panel now names such mods by that account instead of calling them 'not requested', and says plainly that they can only be unsubscribed from within that account.
  • Subscriptions are account-wide. A second launcher — on this PC or another — could unsubscribe a mod while this one was waiting for it; Steam then answered with 'Disabled' forever. The running job now checks its subscriptions every 15 seconds and sets them again when someone else took them away.
  • Honest status instead of 'downloading…': a mod Steam has not touched for 45 seconds is requested again and named as stalled, with a link to Steam's download page where the reason is; a drive with less than 2 GB free is said out loud, because Steam cancels with 'not enough disk space' without ever telling anyone.
  • Fix: the play history no longer follows your account to other PCs. It quietly steered the mod page — the server you last played on the other PC got its mods lined up first here, on a machine that had never seen it. Favourites still sync; the history now stays where you played.
  • Fix: mod operations could no longer trip over each other. Unsubscribing during a download took a mod away from the running job, which then waited up to an hour for files that never came; 'stop foreign downloads' could cancel your own. Every mod now has exactly one owner at a time, and a second install, update or repair click for the same mod starts nothing.
  • When a mod is being downloaded or repaired, remove and cancel now say so — instead of 'Steam did not respond'.

Version 0.9.82

  • Fix, and it was the big one: servers list Workshop ids that do not exist at Steam. CHERNO treated them as missing mods — they could never be installed, the check kept reporting them, and every join was blocked with a PBO error. They are now recognised, named as "not in the Workshop" and left out of the launch, exactly as DayZ does.
  • Fix: a folder without files counted as an installed mod. That is why the panel said "all mods installed" and the launch said "incomplete" about the same mod. A mod now only counts when its addons folder actually holds a .pbo — the measure DayZ itself uses. On the test machine that caught three mods straight away.
  • Fix: Steam lists mods as installed whose folder is long gone — 20 GB of it on the test machine. Subscribing does nothing there, so the download never started and the mod was "installed but not found" forever. CHERNO now spots them and can request them again.
  • Fix: a second server put its mods behind the first server's complete download — up to an hour of waiting. Now the server you picked last stops the running job and fetches everything it is missing first; the old job moves behind it, with nothing unsubscribed and nothing thrown away. Mods that are actually missing come before ones that only need a subscription, and the frontmost one keeps priority at Steam.
  • The panel, the check button and the launch now run one and the same check. That is the end of "all mods installed, you can join" followed a click later by "some mods are incomplete or outdated".
  • New: mods that are on disk but which Steam has no subscription for can be adopted with one click. Steam would otherwise download them a second time and put them next to the ones you have.
  • The mod page shows subscriptions next to installs, so the two numbers can be compared at a glance — and cleaned up: remove subscriptions with nothing on disk, or all of them.

Version 0.9.81

  • Fix: version 0.9.80 did not start. The package was assembled while its own files were still being edited, so the archive no longer matched its contents and Windows closed the app without a word. This build is packed cleanly and was started and checked before release.
  • New: the mod page shows how many Workshop mods Steam has subscribed for DayZ, next to the number installed. Two buttons clean up: remove subscriptions with nothing on disk — exactly what Steam would download next — or remove all of them.
  • The download row now says what it can actually do: Pause opens Steam's own download page, because Steam has no command to pause from outside, and Unsubscribe removes the subscription and frees the half-downloaded data.

Version 0.9.80

  • The server list is twice as fast: a full sweep of 18,600 servers now takes 18 seconds instead of 38. Servers that stay quiet are asked a second time, so nothing is lost to the speed.
  • New: mods Steam fetches on its own — old subscriptions, mods subscribed in a browser — are now shown while they download, with a button that stops them. They were invisible before, and they took the bandwidth your server's mods needed.
  • Fix: only the first mod of the server you are joining is requested as urgent. Asking for every one in turn made them push each other aside, and none of them finished.
  • Cancelling a download now always frees the half-downloaded data, even when Steam keeps going regardless. Steam has no way to abort a running transfer; CHERNO now says so instead of pretending.
  • New: if DayZ does not start, or closes seconds after joining, the app says so and offers the matching next step instead of leaving you in front of an empty screen.
  • New: several DayZ profiles. Save your names — clan, RP character, vanilla — and switch with one click; each has its own keybinds and settings.
  • 38 more maps have proper names: Pacific Northwest, Bitterroot, Chernobyl Zone, Deadfall, Alteria, Nyheim, Taviana and others no longer show their raw id.

Version 0.9.79

  • New: the Discord bot tab. Sign in with Discord and set up the CHERNO bot on every Discord server you manage — live status message, restart and outage alerts, wipe feed, update feed — with a preview and a test button, without a single command.
  • New: while you play, your Discord status shows the real server with players, queue and map, the map picture beside it, and a button that puts friends on the same server. Streamer mode keeps the address hidden.
  • Fix: "all mods installed" while the server kicked you anyway. Steam reports a mod as current until it asks the Workshop itself; CHERNO now compares with the Workshop and marks a mod as outdated before the join, not after the kick.
  • The mod list shows each mod's Steam picture, and several mods can be selected and deleted in one go instead of one row at a time.
  • Fix: downloads that were not running kept sitting in the list — leftover folders from finished jobs. They are gone, cancelling works even when Steam is not answering, and everything in the list can be cancelled at once.
  • Pacific Northwest (PNW) is recognised as a map and named properly in the list, in the filters and in the bot.

Version 0.9.78

  • Joining through a shared Discord link now asks first: the server, its map and players, how many mods it runs, how many you are missing and what their download costs.
  • Fix: cancelling a mod download now really cancels. CHERNO unsubscribes the mods at Steam and frees the half-downloaded data — before, the download carried on and the entry was back moments later.
  • The history is redesigned: a Continue playing card with the map picture and your playtime, map thumbnails per row, and your total playtime in the header.
  • New: filter sets. Save the filters you have set under a name; one click puts them back.
  • New: your own note per server — what the list does not tell you. It stays on this PC.
  • Fix: the server panel said 0 mods while the list beside it showed the real number. The mod list now also comes from the directory, and the rules query gets a second try.

Version 0.9.77

  • New: streamer mode. The CHERNO window disappears from your capture, server addresses in the app become dots, and the server no longer shows up in your Discord status.
  • New: covers over the game for the options screen and mod maps — colour, your own image or a pattern, placed by dragging and switched with a hotkey while you play.
  • New: the real map in the server panel — Chernarus+, Livonia, Sakhal, Namalsk, Deer Isle, Banov, Esseker, Takistan, Rostow and Bitterroot. Click it for the full map.
  • New: a PvE/PvP filter right in the bar, read from the server's own name — DayZ reports neither. PvE servers carry a small tag in the list.
  • The accent colours are considerably more vivid, all seven of them, without losing legibility on filled buttons.
  • Sharing a server on Discord works again, and the post now shows the map picture, the mod list by name and a Join button.

Version 0.9.76

  • New: six artwork crosshairs made for CHERNO. Colour, size, opacity, outline and position work just like for the other shapes.
  • Crosshair page: hotkey to show or hide it in game, save your own crosshairs, share codes, preview zoom and more backgrounds, exact number inputs, undo and recently used colours.

Version 0.9.75

  • New: favourites and history follow your Discord account to every PC where you sign in to CHERNO.
  • New: CHERNO tells you 24 hours and 1 hour before a favourite server wipes, if its owner announced the date. Can be switched off in the settings.
  • New: if CHERNO closed unexpectedly, it offers to send a diagnostic report on the next start.
  • Downloads now come from download.cherno-hub.com.

Version 0.9.74

  • New: CHERNO has its own website address, cherno-hub.com. Links in the app and the Discord status now point there; the old address forwards automatically.

Version 0.9.73

  • New: share a server on the CHERNO Discord with one click from its details. It shows up in #shared-servers with map, players and address.
  • The save bar in the settings only appears when a text field or selection has unsaved changes; switches save instantly.

Version 0.9.72

  • Fixed: switches in the settings now save instantly. "Send diagnostics automatically" no longer turns itself off after restarting the app.

Version 0.9.71

  • New: the diagnostic code in the settings has a Copy button, so you can paste it straight into a support ticket on our Discord.

Version 0.9.70

  • New ping display: pin-sharp with signal bars, a trend line, jitter and packet loss. In the options the ping can now be switched on and off separately for the app and the game.

Version 0.9.69

  • The server list scrolls much more smoothly, especially with a background image. The start screen stays a few seconds longer.
  • New: the ping of your internet connection shows at the top of the app and in the top right corner in game, so you see right away when your connection is struggling.

Version 0.9.68

  • Faster start: the server list from last time appears instantly and refreshes in the background. Opening the app shows a CHERNO start screen instead of an empty window.

Version 0.9.67

  • The background image now sits centred in the content area instead of slightly shifted up and to the left.

Version 0.9.66

  • The logo in the top left takes on your accent colour again. With red it keeps its original look.

Version 0.9.65

  • New CHERNO logo in the app, in the taskbar and in the installer.
  • The installer starts on its own, shows only the loading bar, creates the desktop shortcut and opens CHERNO automatically afterwards.

Version 0.9.64

  • New installer: CHERNO now installs in its own window in the CHERNO look, with a loading bar that shows the real progress.

Version 0.9.63

  • Joining via friends, direct connect, history or double click now always checks the server's mods first. If something is missing, the download starts right away.

Version 0.9.62

  • In the sign-in window you can now choose: sign in right there or confirm in the Discord app.
  • After your first sign-in the CHERNO bot sends you a thank-you message as a Discord DM.

Version 0.9.61

  • New slider in the options: make the animated background effects weaker or stronger.
  • Discord sign-in now opens in its own CHERNO window instead of the browser and also works with a VPN or proxy. Instead of "fetch failed" you get a clear message.

Version 0.9.60

  • New default background image. In the options you can swap it for your own or turn it off.
  • The accent colours are more muted and match the new background: blood red, rust, brass, olive, night blue, plum and gunmetal.
  • Your Discord profile now shows the CHERNO logo and how many people are using CHERNO right now. Its second button leads to the CHERNO website.
  • The Discord link leads to the CHERNO server again. The old invite had expired.

Version 0.9.59

  • The top bar now shows how many people have CHERNO open right now. Counted anonymously, with a random ID per install.
  • For screen readers: the map picker now announces the chosen value, the filters say whether they are on, and the sidebar tells you which page you are on.

Version 0.9.58

  • Accent-coloured text was too dark on the dark background — the active menu item was the least readable text in the app. It, high ping values and the sort arrow now use the light accent. Dimmed text was lightened too.
  • Three buttons were too shallow to hit reliably: the sortable column headers, Start Steam in the header, and the mod ID you copy. All three are now at least 24 pixels tall.

Version 0.9.57

  • Deleting now checks whether Steam really lifted the subscription. CHERNO used to just report success — if the subscription stood, Steam fetched the mod right back after the delete.

Version 0.9.56

  • The trash button now really deletes. Unsubscribing alone was not enough — Steam left the folders behind, the row stayed and the disk space stayed used. CHERNO now clears up itself when Steam does not.

Version 0.9.55

  • A mod is downloading and you want to join another server? Its mods now line up and start on their own as soon as the running download is through.

Version 0.9.54

  • White text on the coloured buttons was not readable enough on any of the seven accents. The surfaces are now dark enough to meet the standard; red loses 8 percent of its brightness.
  • Buttons used to get lighter on hover, and harder to read with it. They now get darker instead, at the exact moment you are looking.
  • The trash button deleted nothing visible: it reported success even when Steam was unreachable. It now asks first, waits until Steam really clears the files, and says what came of it.
  • No text could be selected anywhere in the app. Mod IDs, server names and addresses can now be copied, and clicking a Workshop ID puts it straight on the clipboard.
  • On the mods page the fields are labelled: one downloads a new mod, the other searches what you have. The tools now line up with the download field instead of jutting into the downloads box.

Version 0.9.53

  • New filter for servers in demand: not the ones with the most players, but the ones people are queuing for. Fill rate, size and queue count together, ratings from three votes up.
  • New region filter: Europe, Russia, North and South America, Oceania, Asia. Read from the server's name, and the filter says outright that servers without a stated region are hidden.
  • Search and filters are now per page. A search in the browser no longer narrows your favourites as well, where it usually hid everything.

Version 0.9.52

  • Dropdowns could run off the screen when there was little room below the button. They now fit themselves to the space available and always stay visible.
  • The notification area next to the clock showed an empty grey square instead of the icon. The image sat in a folder the installer never ships.

Version 0.9.51

  • The button for downloading a mod again looked like a pencil and reported nothing back. Now it is an arrow, and the row says whether Steam took the request.
  • The mod page tools sat in four left-packed rows. Now two rows across the full width: what does something on top, what narrows the list below.

Version 0.9.50

  • Updates now install silently and the app comes back on its own afterwards. Before, the full installer wizard ran and CHERNO stayed closed after it.

Version 0.9.49

  • Every button now answers to being pressed, and all transitions run on their own curves instead of defaults.
  • Type follows one scale again: four sizes instead of nine, and nothing below 11 px.
  • In the server panel each section sits on its own surface, and the list shows outlines while loading instead of a spinner.
  • Every control is now at least 24 by 24 pixels; eight of them used to be hard to hit.

Version 0.9.48

  • The server list refreshes about a third faster — CHERNO now remembers how to address a server instead of asking twice every time.
  • A brief network hiccup used to throw away every mod size. Now there is one retry, and a failed batch no longer takes the others with it.

Version 0.9.47

  • The player list showed nothing but dashes on every server — DayZ gives out no names. Instead of ninety empty rows it now shows how long people have been playing.

Version 0.9.46

  • Options are sorted into categories — each one fits on a single screen now, and the About box is finally readable.
  • The crosshair page folds up: the preview stays put and each closed section shows what it is set to. No more scrolling.
  • More filters: 1PP or 3PP, vanilla or modded, BattlEye on or off, and verified servers only.
  • Every mod can be repaired on its own — and the repair downloaded nothing at all before, which is fixed.
  • The history can be cleared, single entries removed, and the Steam name now follows the account you are signed in as.

Version 0.9.45

  • The server list now merges both sources — with a Steam key set, thousands of ordinary servers were missing before.
  • A warning on servers that carry another server's name and are absent from the public directory — the usual way players get intercepted.
  • Repeated listings are folded together: 12 % of the list was one server announced on several ports.
  • Dropdowns sit above the list again, and the download size only counts once the mods have been checked.

Version 0.9.44

  • Dropdowns are drawn by CHERNO now — Windows used to open a white system menu in the middle of the dark interface.
  • The “Rating” column only appears once enough servers actually have one, instead of showing a row of dashes.
  • In chat, the link to the original text sat against the last word — and appeared on messages that were never translated.
  • Map names are tidied up: “dz_map” becomes “Dz Map”, “chernarus2035” becomes “Chernarus 2035”.

Version 0.9.43

  • Chat is translated into your language automatically — the original is one click away.
  • Pictures and emoji in chat: type Discord shortcodes like :skull:, paste screenshots with Ctrl+V.
  • A channel directory shows where people are talking, instead of guessing at a server name.
  • Messages are deleted automatically after two weeks.

Version 0.9.42

  • New "Crosshair" tab: your own crosshair over the game — shape, colour and size all yours.
  • The server list now says next to each name how fresh the server is, or how many mods it loads.
  • Interface reworked: larger type, a calmer list, and no more duplicate buttons.

Version 0.9.41

  • "Check and repair mods": every mod is weighed against the byte count Steam recorded, so a half-downloaded one is named instead of silently breaking DayZ. Links are rebuilt too.
  • The mod list marks which mods your last server actually loads, and can show only those.

Version 0.9.40

  • About 1,500 operators write their wipe date into the server name. CHERNO now reads it — and says plainly that it comes from the name.
  • New filter "Freshly wiped": servers that started over in the last week, where everyone is on equal footing.

Version 0.9.39

  • New "Missing" column: sort the whole list by how much you would still have to download.
  • Clicking Ping now puts the fastest servers first instead of the slowest.

Version 0.9.38

  • Server details now count down to the next restart, once the operator has published the schedule.
  • Operators can post a short announcement and their restart times — new fields in the operator area.

Version 0.9.37

  • Download figures now come from Steam itself — exact bytes and a real progress bar instead of a folder measurement.
  • Cancelling a download now checks Steam's own state instead of a folder, and reclaims the half-downloaded gigabytes straight away.
  • Fixed two faults that had silently disabled every Steam progress reading, including the one in the install dialog.

Version 0.9.36

  • Full server? Have CHERNO watch it and tell you the moment a slot opens — it keeps working from the tray.
  • Passwords for locked servers can be remembered, encrypted by Windows. Typed once, never again.

Version 0.9.35

  • New filter "Ready to join": only servers whose every mod you already have. No wait, no download.
  • Each mod now shows how many servers still run it — one click lists them.
  • Unused mods are checked against all 17,000 servers in the directory, not just your saved ones.
  • Server details say whether a server is growing or shrinking, and when it is fullest.
  • Optional notice when a Steam friend joins a server.

Version 0.9.34

  • The mod list only builds the rows on screen. With a few hundred mods, typing in the filter was taking a quarter of a second per key.
  • Column headings line up with the rows again, and the mod list no longer collapses on a short window.
  • In the tray the app now stops pinging servers, asking Steam about friends and scanning download folders.

Version 0.9.33

  • Cancelling a download actually works now, and says so when Steam refuses instead of pretending it succeeded.
  • Download sizes show a total and a percentage again, plus the measured speed.
  • New in mod management: find and delete the staging folders Steam leaves behind — often tens of gigabytes.
  • With a light background image the mod and server names had vanished into it. Rows now carry their own ground.

Version 0.9.32

  • Every mod was listed twice when Steam reported its folder in different capitalisation — the list, the total size and the downloads are correct again.
  • The download panel no longer shows folders Steam left behind, and reports the measured speed instead of a percentage it cannot know.
  • Your own background image is visible again.

Version 0.9.31

  • Steam friends in game now appear above your favourites, with a join button.

Version 0.9.30

  • Server operators can verify themselves and publish a description, rules and their next wipe.
  • Announced wipes for your favourites now appear above the list.

Version 0.9.29

  • Server details now show when a server is actually busy, built from what the community records.

Version 0.9.28

  • See live which mods Steam is downloading, and cancel any of them without leaving the app.

Version 0.9.27

  • The install button now says how big the download will be before you press it.

Version 0.9.26

  • The accent colour now covers the logo too, and every colour is more vivid.
  • Custom backgrounds are readable: frosted panels, a stronger default dim and a preview in the options.

Version 0.9.25

  • The options page is reorganised: grouped sections, two columns, switches, and a Save button that is always in reach.

Version 0.9.24

  • DayZ is now started through BattlEye directly — it joins the server instead of stopping at the DayZ launcher.
  • If BattlEye is missing, CHERNO says so and can install it for you.

Version 0.9.23

  • Fixed for real: DayZ now starts with BattlEye, so servers stop kicking you.
  • If BattlEye is missing, CHERNO says so and can install it for you.

Version 0.9.22

  • Pick an accent colour, and start CHERNO with Windows.
  • Mod manager finds mods no saved server needs any more.
  • Keyboard control in the server list: arrows, Enter joins, Space favourites.
  • More reliable ping for favourites — three probes instead of one.

Version 0.9.21

  • Filters gathered into one dropdown instead of a wrapping chip row.
  • Right-click a server for join, favourite, share link and map.
  • Table columns no longer collide on narrow windows.

Version 0.9.20

  • Check button beside Join verifies every mod of a server.
  • Use your own image as the background — PNG, JPG, WEBP or GIF.
  • Update a single mod, or add one by Workshop link.

Version 0.9.19

  • Fixed the BattlEye kick shortly after joining.
